My solution to the whole how-you-keep-yourself-motivated problem may
be deemed harsh by some, but in my experience it seems to be the most
effective. You Just Train! Set up a workout schedule for yourself and
do it every day. If you've had a bad day at work...train.
If it's raining outside...train KunTao Silat inside.
If you feel depressed...train, because it is not a
matter of "feeling" like training. Motivation is an emotion so if you
base whether or not you work out outside of class on how you feel your
training will be at
the mercy of your undisciplined emotional mind and you will never be
better than average. Your training must become like breathing.
Don't think about it...just train. It is in this
out-of-class training that you truly develop discipline. Its easy to
be in class and train when you have somebody watching over you, but
the contrary is not as simple.
Whether it is 15 minutes a day or 4 hours a day, the philosophy
remains the same...don't think about whether you want to do it or
not...just train.
